Plug and Play Signals

Here is a quick and easy way to make signals easy to install and remove.

Use a Phone plug hot glued into the bottom of the signal. This is a Model Power 1680 which is very close to "S" scale.  I have changed the bulbs to LEDs.
Use a Phone jack coupler as the receptacle glued into the train board.  Leave about 1/8 in. exposed above the board to leave room to get a screwdriver in to release the plug.
Here is a finished installed signal. The ground cover will cover up the exposed part of the jack.  The wiring under the layout also uses a mating phone plug for the connection. The plugs and jack  are cheap and available at a Radio Shack
